Year in Tiers 2022 - Joey Chestnut
The final group in our 2022 Year in Tiers recap finds the absolute best of the best, industry standards we'll hold up for future generations to be measured against for years to come. These are the icons. The legends. Like 15 time Hot Dog Eating Champion and the renowned World Record holder for downing 76 hot dogs in 12 minutes - these are the indomitable, Joey Chestnuts of film. #6. Terrifier 2 Yet another instance of a sequel magnifying everything great about it's predecesso

Year in Tiers 2022 - Chris Paul
Simply based on regular season statistics, Chris Paul is one of the greatest point guards to ever play in the NBA. But he's never been the league MVP and his playoff record is stunningly dismal. Like this tier of movies, Chris Paul is great. But just a step down from the very best of the best. #35. White Noise Noah Baumbach is one of my favorite screenwriters working today and his latest film may be his most ambitious feature yet. Rather than the subdued, character driven ind

Year in Tiers 2022 - Jim Gaffigan
Our most densely populated tier in 2022 is a collection of perfectly average, moderately enjoyable, entirely serviceable content. Like take for instance, Jim Gaffigan. He's fine. He's nobody's favorite comedian but when it comes to stand-up, you can certainly do a lot worse. So enjoy this plentiful bounty of Jim Gaffigan level entertainment. #67. Devotion It's really hard being the OTHER film about fighter pilots in the year of Top Gun: Maverick. And weirdly enough, "Hangman"

Year in Tiers 2022 - Chris Kattan
One tier above the Worst Films of the Year, we find our decidedly bad movies that still have their occasional moments of entertainment sprinkled throughout. Which is why this bad but not terrible tier is named after SNL C-lister, Chris Kattan. #89. Aftersun This may be a little too low on the list but honestly, I'm just so tired of this kind of slow-burn arthouse tragedy porn. It's such a bore watching silhouettes sob in the reflection of a big box television playing glitchy

Year in Tiers 2021 - Limp Bizkit
The Next Tier finds us with the bad but not entirely terrible films of 2021. If you're desperate enough, you can find some redeemable qualities in these titles - not unlike the music of Limp Bizkit. It's not perfect by any means but be honest, they've got a few songs that can get your head nodding here and there. #78. Coming 2 America After his long overdue return to the SNL stage, I was so ready for the Eddie Murphy revival. But Coming 2 America is a flaccid PG-13 follow up

2020: The Year in Tiers - The Good
The 2nd tier in our Year in Tiers recap consists of the runners up. Quality films that just don't quite get the same shine the marquee stars do. Sidekicks. Like good ol' Scottie Pippen. He's a phenomenal #2 (maybe the best ever) but he's just not a #1. Plain and simple. #23. The Devil All The Time A dark look at the gritty underbelly of the old South with an absolutely stacked ensemble cast, The Devil All The Time is a fairly captivating crime drama that can't quite tie toget

2020: The Year in Tiers - The Middle
The middle tier of our yearly recap finds the middle of the road, serviceable yet flavorless efforts that are good enough but not all that remarkable. Like a tall glass of tap water. It'll clench your thirst but it's hardly anyone's first drink of choice. #46. Color Out of Space Yet another glowing love letter to the b-horror 1980's, Color Out of Space does very little to differentiate itself from the ever growing sub-genre of nostalgia horror. But aside from the synth heavy

2020: The Year in Tiers - The Bad
Tier 4 finds the decidedly bad but not unwatchable movies of the year. And since 2020 had us all locked inside with very little to do, it's more than likely we found ourselves lowering our standards for some cheap entertainment. Which is probably why this is 2020's largest tier. We were all like a kid staying home sick from school, channel surfing day time television for the least worst options. And nothing says least worst daytime television like Maury. #74. Bloodshot I'm ho

Top 10 Threequels (Second Sequels) of All Time
With the most triumphant release of Bill and Ted Face the Music hitting this Friday, we've taken a look back at the most non non non heinous third entries into a series. From Last Crusades to Beyond Thunderdomes, these are the Top 10 Number 3's of All Time: #10. Rocky III For a series that's essentially built around a dopey underdog winning a big fight after a musical training montage, the Rocky series is surprisingly consistent. Part III is no different, this time introducin

Top 10 Movies That Should Receive Video Game Adaptations
Recently we tackled the Top 10 video games that should be adapted into feature films but with the release of Predator: Hunting Grounds, we started thinking about the flip side of that coin and which films would be best suited to receive the video game treatment. I get some of these have already been tackled but I'm talking about something a little more substantive than the Robocop NES game here, alright? #10. Planet Terror We really haven't had too many horror franchises in
