Year in Tiers 2021 - Dan Flash's
The Top Tier in this Year's recap is dedicated to the best of the best, unimpeachable standard of quality set by fashion icon - Dan Flash. These are the industry gold medalists that all of entertainment should aspire to and can be priced at easily over $1000 because of how complex their tapestry of filmmaking artistry has been woven. First up is a sequel to the third remake of a 40 year old slasher movie... #9. Halloween Kills While David Gordon Green's 2018 re-quel garnered

Year in Tiers 2021 - The Hollywood Handshakes
Our top tier this year is the best of the best, cream of the crop, most precious of accolades - The Hollywood Handshakes. Sure, you may win a technical challenge or even be this week's star baker, but that shit gets handed out every episode. Hollywood Handshakes - those are reserved for the highest of achievements. Even if they do sound vaguely pornographic for those uninitiated with the Great British Baking Show... #10. The Cyclic Reckoning by Suffering Hour If there was a g

Top 10 Horror Movies That Deserve a Reboot
With Jordan Peele's take on Candyman finally hitting the big screen and reboots, re-quels, re-imaginings and remakes no longer considered a hate crime against the horror genre - here are our nominees for the Top 10 films that could benefit from a modern day update. #10. Phantasm directed by Gareth Evans starring Logan Marshall-Green as Jody Thomas Jane as Reggie Noah Schnapp as Mike Doug Jones as The Tall Man Don Coscarelli's 1979 cult classic has all the makings of a horror

The Top 10 War Films of All Time
As the Fourth of July weekend approaches, we've decided to celebrate our Independence Day by spotlighting our country's two biggest exports - war and entertainment. Here are the Top 10 intersections of War and Film. Also, gotta add that Thin Red Line, Full Metal Jacket, and 1917 were our honorable mentions - all bad ass films in their own right but this top 10 is absolutely stacked. #10. Team America: World Police Nothing cuts down to inane absurdity of post 9/11 war on terro

The Top 10 Movie Dads of All Time
With Father's Day upon us, we've gone and archived the Top 10 Film Fathers of All Time. There are dozens of TV sitcom dads to choose from (I don't know if I could even pick my favorite of the 4 Modern Family dads tbh) but this list is strictly MOVIE DADS ONLY. And no Darth Vader doesn't count, he went on a tyrannical galactic reign before he decided to keep the Emperor from murdering his own son. #10. John Ritter as Ben Problem Child While Problem Child is definitely the most

Top 10 Horror Sequels of All Time
As 2023 is set to bestow upon us a sixth Scream, fifth Evil Dead, second Nun (which is like the ninth movie in the Conjuring universe I think...), tenth Saw, and fifth Exorcist movie - I figured now was a good time to revisit our list of the Top 10 Horror Sequels of All Time. And I gotta mention also, I was incredibly close to bumping out 28 Weeks Later for Terrifier 2 but I'm gonna let it sit for a while and see if I can avoid any recency bias I may be experiencing. But it's

Top 10 Zombie Movies of All Time
Since the success of AMC's The Walking Dead, zombies have had a huge resurgence within the horror genre over the past decade so we've decided to take a look back at the Best Zombie Movies of All Time: #10. Zombieland There's always been something kind of funny about the living dead, once you get passed the whole undying hunger for human flesh thing. Ruben Fleischer takes you on a road trip across a post-apocalyptic zombie outbreak with an incredible ensemble cast featuring Wo

2020: The Year in Tiers - The Best
Our top tier is a little smaller than normal and this is exactly why we don't stick to a top 10 list. Some years, there just really aren't 10 great films released. Last year we extended it to 12. But 2020 wreaked havoc on Hollywood, shuffling releases all over the calendar and limiting the vast majority of their output to at home releases. Which meant very little tent pole blockbusters and a scattered roll out of award contenders that felt very much like studios were holding

2020: The Year in Tiers - The Good
The 2nd tier in our Year in Tiers recap consists of the runners up. Quality films that just don't quite get the same shine the marquee stars do. Sidekicks. Like good ol' Scottie Pippen. He's a phenomenal #2 (maybe the best ever) but he's just not a #1. Plain and simple. #23. The Devil All The Time A dark look at the gritty underbelly of the old South with an absolutely stacked ensemble cast, The Devil All The Time is a fairly captivating crime drama that can't quite tie toget

2020: The Year in Tiers - The Middle
The middle tier of our yearly recap finds the middle of the road, serviceable yet flavorless efforts that are good enough but not all that remarkable. Like a tall glass of tap water. It'll clench your thirst but it's hardly anyone's first drink of choice. #46. Color Out of Space Yet another glowing love letter to the b-horror 1980's, Color Out of Space does very little to differentiate itself from the ever growing sub-genre of nostalgia horror. But aside from the synth heavy

2020: The Year in Tiers - The Bad
Tier 4 finds the decidedly bad but not unwatchable movies of the year. And since 2020 had us all locked inside with very little to do, it's more than likely we found ourselves lowering our standards for some cheap entertainment. Which is probably why this is 2020's largest tier. We were all like a kid staying home sick from school, channel surfing day time television for the least worst options. And nothing says least worst daytime television like Maury. #74. Bloodshot I'm ho

2020: The Year in Tiers - The Worst
It's a couple of months later than usual so that we could include all of the 2020 Oscar eligible films released, but here we are with the first installment of our Year in Tiers recap of the Best and Worst films 2020 had to offer. As always, I'll preface this with the note that obviously there are some dogshit terrible films out there that didn't make this list but these are the worst films we actually took the time to finish and intrigued us enough to seek them out in the fir

2020: The Year in Tiers - The Best
The final tier of our 2020 recap is the tip of the mountain top, best of the best, undisputed heavyweight champions of the world. The standard all future generations will be measured against, I give you - The Seinfelds. #10. Inlet by Hum The most improbable comeback story of the year, Hum returns after a 22 year gap between albums and it's as seamless as you could possibly imagine. Fuzzy sick riffs on top of fuzzy sick riffs, "Inlet" is music to get high and head bang yoursel

Top 20 Horror Films of the 2010s
After a fairly dreadful decade of horror in the 2000's, the 2010's saw a resurgence of original premises and groundbreaking first time filmmakers flourishing in a low budget / high concept creative safe haven that held it's own against the tent-pole franchise frenzy of superhero cinema. Here were this decade's best horror films: #20. Fright Night The incredible ensemble of Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, David Tennant and Imogeen Poots n

The Top 20 Films of the 2010s
In a decade that will likely be looked back upon for it's franchise frenzied, superhero spectacle tent-pole films and the dawn of the binge streaming age; the 2010's featured a bevy of incredible films as well. It was surprisingly difficult to narrow the list down to just twenty, with runners up like the only signature comedy film of the decade (Bridesmaids), Richard Linklater's 12 year encapsulation of growing up in modern America (Boyhood), 2 new testaments to the genius of

Top 10 Threequels (Second Sequels) of All Time
With the most triumphant release of Bill and Ted Face the Music hitting this Friday, we've taken a look back at the most non non non heinous third entries into a series. From Last Crusades to Beyond Thunderdomes, these are the Top 10 Number 3's of All Time: #10. Rocky III For a series that's essentially built around a dopey underdog winning a big fight after a musical training montage, the Rocky series is surprisingly consistent. Part III is no different, this time introducin

Top 10 Movies That Should Receive Video Game Adaptations
Recently we tackled the Top 10 video games that should be adapted into feature films but with the release of Predator: Hunting Grounds, we started thinking about the flip side of that coin and which films would be best suited to receive the video game treatment. I get some of these have already been tackled but I'm talking about something a little more substantive than the Robocop NES game here, alright? #10. Planet Terror We really haven't had too many horror franchises in

Top 10 Judd Apatow Movies
Rather than just tackling his directorial efforts (of which, The King of Staten Island is set to only be his 6th) we decided to rank the prolific writer/producer/all around funny man's entire catalog of projects he's had some form of contributing towards. Here are the Top 10 Judd Apatow Films of All Time: #10. Celtic Pride Probably the most obscure film on Judd's resume, this hysterical sports comedy about a pair of die hard Celtic fans who set out to get their Jordan-esque a

Top 10 Hip Hop Duos of All Time
With both Armand Hammer and Run the Jewels releasing new albums this week, we decided to tackle the Top 10 Best Hip Hop Duos of All Time. RTJ haven't made the cut just yet but here's the list of who they'll have to surpass if they want included eventually: #10. Gang Starr The Brooklyn duo of Guru and DJ Premier was an absolute staple of raw 90's instrumental hip hop and their 4 album run of Step in the Arena, Daily Operation, Hard to Earn and Moment of Truth are true genre cl

Top 10 Romance Movies of All Time
I know the phrase "rom-com" is often treated like a sexually transmitted disease, but not all films about romance are awful. In fact that are some absolutely incredible ones. And while I was really tempted to include some anti-love stories like The Graduate, Blue Valentine or Marriage Story - I tried to stick to things you could actually enjoy with your significant other as an alternative to the same old insufferable Nicholas Sparks / Reese Witherspoon movies. #10. The Weddin
